Have you every heard the quote: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!”? The full quote is from William Congreve who said “Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, and hell a fury like a woman scorned.” What do you think it might be when condescending and criminalizing someone in their choices with their own body? I once visited a protected habitat called crater lake. When we entered the forest around it we were given a pamphlet that warned of the high danger of forest fires. It described that conservationists had made a catastrophic mistake in the last century by trying to prevent all fires in this area. One might call these the “pro-lifers” of the forest service who had believed that all fire was bad. Only now it was dawning on the forestry service that all of the underbrush that had built up over the decades had created the potential for the biggest bonfire possible, that would inevitably burn everything to the ground and destroy all of the unique species that only lived on that lake. I remember the amazement I felt driving by heavy machinery that was working “around the clock” to try and remove the several feet thick of underbrush that had built up over the years around the trees that had been not allowed to burn. To those who support and/or believe in overturning the rights of someone with their own womb: Your ignorance and ideal-ology turned into idol-ology has created the climate for an inevitable burning to come. Here is your notice: Get behind us or burn. You can make whatever laws you wish, you may judge us, imprison us, and let us die in a pool of blood as we chose our own paths, which includes erotic, sensual pleasure for pleasures sake, but unwanted, unsafe, and unplanned pregnancies are a fact of human life, and we will chose when it is time to end the life within us, regardless of your narcissistic ideology. You will never teach those with wombs what is right over the truth of what our bodies tell us every time we bleed. Death is part of life. We know that. What you don’t seem to understand is that we also know how to fight, and we know when it’s time to end life. Do you? If not, you are about to learn. You think that #metoo and #timesup was brutal? You took the consent process away for after we may or may not have given it. You have voided our consent, and now you will experience what life is like when we can’t say no. Love cannot exist unless it can be chosen. Life cannot exist without also choosing death when it is untrue to give life. The hell you are choosing and have chosen for all of us will become increasingly obvious to you from this moment forward. For my part, I will assist with any and every person with a womb who choses to not grow a child in their body in whatever way she/they/he chooses whenever it is clear that giving birth is not their truth. Body rights are human rights. Bringing unchosen humans to life will never be the answer to your fears and insecurities. My doctorate in psychology educated me on narcissistic projective identification, which is what is happening when anyone believes that pro-life means taking the rights away of those with wombs about what they do with them. It is nihilism of our humanity masquerading as religious dogma and conservatism. This is a new level of heat in a bloody revolution that will not end until we all understand that pro-choice is pro-life because I will say it again, we cannot chose life if we cannot chose death. May the blood that is spilt going forward remind us all about the sacredness and beauty that can arise when we remember the power of saying no and how to respect and support those who know the truth of what they and their body needs. Only then will we know how to honor and celebrate our lives as breathing, laughing, crying, and loving humans.
