Why the name change?

  • 2015-2017:​ The original website and model was created to recognize and honor a relationship polarity and connection tool developed to support young people in making meaningful connections with each other and the adults that were trying to support them. As popularity of the model has grown, it has also evolved new layers and a new name. 
2018 -2019: The Returning to Compassion model was renamed the Figure It In Empowerment model after multiple suggestions that businesses and corporations would benefit from this model if customized and re-branded to reflect more of the  cognitive frame and the result that comes from practicing it (i.e., people describe feeling empowered!).

2019-Present: As we are working to reach businesses and offer a layer of this model that is business friendly, the D.O.T. (Deepen. Orient. Transform.) model as a non-gendered model name has tested better than the Empowerment Model. Some have hypothesized that this is due to the word empowerment sounding too feminist. For those who get to know the model well, you'll realize that feminine and masculine are polarized identities. The D.O.T. model is about reaching and developing both roles equally. We hope this is the final incarnation name for the model and will never say forever as we are always looking for new layers with better ways to communicate its message.
