Here is what others are saying about the D.O.T. model:
I recently witnessed Ruth giving a presentation on the DOT (Deepen, Orient, Transform) model for conflict resilience. Having a long background in navigating conflict, I was so impressed with Ruth's layers within the model and how so many elements of navigating tense human moments were so well documented and analyzed within this model. Layering everything from nervous system activations to human archetypes embodiment into a model that is both beautiful and deeply informed by research is a very impressive product! ~Robin FunSten
I'm looking forward to a future of collaborating on incredible projects with my friend Dr. Ruth Diaz! She's taught me more about empathy in an afternoon than decades of formal education did. What we do in our spare time can truly change the world. ~Thomas Sealock
The Returning to Compassion model is unique in the field of psychology, conflict resolution, and political science. It provides a dynamic way of understanding and explaining the increasingly polarized ways of relating which is occurring at every level in the world today. Ultimately the goal is to avoid losses in organizations. This is a learning and training model developed by Dr. Ruth Diaz. The model creates a state of mindfulness and intentionality about how we are communicating with each other on an ongoing basis by giving a visual organization for our emotions and reactions. Even in conflict we have more in common with each other than we initially perceive. The model can even be taught without words by practicing it in the presence of others, teaching through non-verbal communication and working to recognize and transform our own emotions implicitly in our everyday connections. People who experience someone who has learned and has chosen to practice this model often tend to grow naturally curious about how this person stays so centered through the ups and downs of relationship. Optimizing conflict for constructive resolution results in losses avoided due to turnover, employee error, and opportunities missed. ~Martin Medeiros
The D.O.T. model simplifies complex human reactions/roles into an understandable format. It seems that everything hinges first on self-awareness followed by channeling into a productive format. ~Jeffrey G. McWilliams MD, Leading Edge Medical Associates
This is a compelling theoretical integration of systemic thinking, attachment theory, inter-subjective approaches, social constructionism, and traditional individualism. ~James T. Hansen Ph. D., Oakland University
